ORLANDO, Fla. – Expect another taste of cooler mornings Sunday before temperatures and rain chances begin climbing again next week.
Most of us will start Sunday in the 60s, continuing the coolest stretch of morning temperatures we’ve seen since early June. With plenty of sunshine and dry air still in place, temperatures will warm into the mid 80s Sunday afternoon. We’ll see a high of 85 in Orlando, with rain chances near zero.
The dry stretch continues into Monday. Morning temperatures will once again fall into the 60s across much of Central Florida, followed by highs in the mid to upper 80s.
If you’re heading to the beach Sunday, conditions in the water remain a concern. A high risk of rip currents continues along the Atlantic coast, with rough surf and breaking waves of 3 to 5 feet. While winds will be lighter, entering the ocean is still strongly discouraged.
By Tuesday, we begin transitioning back to a more typical late-September pattern. Moisture returns, bringing back at least a chance for afternoon showers and storms. Temperatures also climb, with nearing 90 degrees.
Rain chances continue to increase through the second half of the week as deeper moisture moves back into Central Florida. By Wednesday and into next weekend scattered to numerous afternoon and early evening showers and storms will be possible, with locally heavy rain, lightning and gusty winds.
Enjoy this brief taste of fall. By the middle and end of the week, we’ll be back to warmer temperatures, higher humidity and a better chance of afternoon storms.
