ORLANDO, Fla. – The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released their latest season outlook, keeping a high chance for an active season.

They’re now expecting 13 to 18 named storms. Out of those, 5 to 9 could become hurricanes, and 2 to 5 might reach major hurricane strength.

NOAA's Augusts Updated Outlook

On average, the Atlantic hurricane season brings 14 named storms, seven hurricanes and three major hurricanes.

As of their latest update, there’s a 50% chance we’ll see above-normal activity, a 35% chance of a near-normal season, and just a 15% chance it’ll be below normal.

This update is largely in line with the forecast issued back in May, but reminder that it only takes one storm to make an impactful season. Stay informed and remain prepared for whatever may come our way.

The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs through Nov. 30.

Here's a look at the upcoming named storm list for the hurricane season. We will likely start seeing names ticked off the list within the next month or so (Copyright 2025 by WKMG ClickOrlando - All rights reserved.)
