While the system currently lacks sufficient tropical characteristics to be classified as a tropical storm, it’s expected to be upgraded over the weekend, getting the name Imelda, becoming the ninth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

The system is expected to bring rough surf, dangerous beach conditions, heavy coastal rainfall with possible minor flooding, and gusty winds between 20-35 mph Sunday into Monday. The Government of the Bahamas has issued Tropical Storm watches and warnings for areas in the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, there are no areas of concern for tropical development along the Gulf Coast at this time.
