Tavares police search for man accused of filming woman in fitting room

Police said he was seen driving the car belonging to mother of his girlfriend

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – Officers with the Tavares Police Department are searching for the man accused of filming a woman in a fitting room at Kohl's on the 2700 block of East Burleigh Boulevard around 10 a.m. on July 15.

“You think you have an expectation of privacy in that dressing room that is what that lock is for that is why those doors are closed," Sgt. Sarah Coursey said.

Investigators said Paul Lyles was caught hiding in a dressing room stall with his phone under the door of the adjoining stall.

“One of the employees happened to be pretty close by and when she went in the fitting room she saw the man in a handicapped stall crouched down under another stall which was closed. And a woman was inside trying on bras,” Coursey said.

Authorities said the victim did not know she was being filmed.

"She was a complete victim, had no idea what was going on," Coursey said.

Store employees confronted Lyles, who was last seen driving a red SUV with a Florida Tag out of the Kohl's parking lot.

The car belongs to the mother of his girlfriend, according to police.

Police said they have sent the case to the State Attorney's Office.
