ORLANDO, Fla. – Early voting has already begun in some Central Florida counties, but starting Saturday, all counties across Central Florida will offer early voting for the Florida Statewide Primary election.
Here’s what you need to know.
What’s on the ballot?
Registered Democrats and Republicans will be choosing candidates to be on the ballot in the November general election. They include races for governor and other Florida cabinet seats, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, Florida House and Senate, and in some counties, county commission seats that are partisan.
If you are not a Democrat or a Republican, though, there are still lots of races on the ballot for you -- school board races, judicial races, and any nonpartisan county commission seats. Three Florida House seats are also holding universal primaries. That’s when candidates from only one party qualify for an election. The race is then open to all voters.

What you need to vote in person
In Florida, voting in person is not just for Election Day — you can also vote early.
To vote, you need to be registered. When you go to your polling place, you need to bring a current and valid photo and signature ID.
The following forms of picture identification are allowed if they are current:
- Florida driver’s license
- Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
- United States passport
- Military identification
- Student identification
- Retirement center identification
- Neighborhood association identification
- Public assistance identification
If you do not have a proper photo ID, you will be given a provisional ballot, which will allow you to vote and then later provide documents to prove your identity to the supervisor of elections office.
Also, if your ID does not have a signature on it, you may be asked to provide more forms of identification.
NOTE: The Florida Legislature passed a law that will make changes to this, but it will not take effect until January of 2027.

Early Voting
Early voting will take place over several days in August ahead of the primary on Aug. 18.
Election supervisors set up early voting sites at libraries, recreation centers, and other community centers throughout the county. Unlike on Election Day, when you must vote in your assigned polling precinct, voters can go to any early voting site in their county and vote.

- Marion County: Aug. 8-15
- Orange County: Aug. 3-16
