A mix of originals and beloved sitcoms are climbing up Netflix’s most recent chart of most-watched TV shows—and one particular Netflix Original arrived just in time for Valentine’s Day on Feb. 8.

“One Day,” a limited series based on David Nicholls’ novel of the same name, follows Emma (Ambika Mod) and Dexter (Leo Woodall) over the course of 20 years. Each of its 14 episodes depicts the same day (July 15) in a different year, starting in 1988.

The relationship between Emma and Dexter fluctuates, sometimes the two are growing closer, and other times, they’re growing apart. It’s an intimate tale about friendship and love, one that will tug at viewers’ heartstrings. (And if this sounds familiar, it may be because you saw the 2011 big-screen adaptation of Nicholls’ book starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.)

A modern classic sitcom also made it to the Netflix charts this week: “My Wife and Kids,” an early 2000s fan favorite co-created by and starring Damon Wayans as a business owner navigating chaotic family life.

After becoming a stay-at-home father, Wayans’ character Michael must adjust to the new family dynamic of supporting his hard-working wife and three quirky kids. All five seasons of the ABC sitcom, which originally aired from 2001 to 2005, joined the Netflix library on Feb. 5.

An even more recent sitcom, “Young Sheldon,” also continues to reign over Netflix. The first five seasons of “The Big Bang Theory” spin-off made their way to Netflix on Nov. 24, 2023, and in 10 of the 12 weeks since, at least one season has ranked among the top 10 most-watched Netflix shows weekly.

On Feb. 1, the sixth season of “Young Sheldon” also joined the streaming service, which finds Sheldon navigating his early teen years. The penultimate season’s arrival on Netflix comes just before the CBS premiere of the seventh and final season on Feb. 15.

Fans speculate that Season 7 will see Sheldon enter Caltech; “The Big Bang Theory” viewers know that Sheldon attended the university at a young age thanks to his intellect.
