‘Fast and Furious’ franchise to end with 11th film
It appears that “Fast and Furious” is approaching its finale. Variety reports the central franchise will end after its 10th and 11th films. According to Variety, Justin Lin, the director behind many of the movies, will then return to direct the final two installments. This does not mean the “Fast and Furious” the cinematic universe is coming to an end. Universal Studios is supposedly working on more spin-off movies based on characters from the main films.
AMC warns it must sell shares or go bankrupt

ACM Theaters disclosed in a filing Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it has a deal for additional sources of liquidity. That deal is with CitiGroup Global Markets and Goldman Sachs to sell 15 million shares. Earlier this month, AMC announced it could run out of money by the end of the year. Despite these challenges, the movie theater chain has said it will remain open.

Virtual film screenings honor 206th anniversary of ‘The Star Spangled Banner’
THE VILLAGES – Monday marks the 206th anniversary of the United States' national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner," written by Francis Scott Key. In honor of the occasion, special screenings of the film “National Anthem Girl” will take place virtually at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. EST. Stange is the first person in history to perform the national anthem in all 50 states. Tickets to the screenings are five dollars and allow guests to watch the film safely from their homes. To watch, guests must sign up at Qudio.com and then buy tickets for the showtime they wish to view, either 7 p.m. or 10 p.m.
A drive-in theater is coming to this Central Florida Walmart
Walmart is turning 160 of its parking lots into drive-in movie theaters and there’s only one coming to Central Florida. A Walmart in Winter Haven will host the two-day movie event on Sept. 4 and 5, the company announced. The lineup of movies includes “Wonder Woman,” “Spy Kids,” “Space Jam,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” “Ghostbusters,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Black Panther,” “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” and “Friday Night Lights.”Tickets are free, but they must be requested in advance with each location having a maximum capacity, Walmart officials said. Walmart officials said movies and times are subject to change.
Disney to release Mulan on streaming service, for a price
Mulan is no longer headed for a major theatrical release. The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday that it will debut its live-action blockbuster on its subscription streaming service, Disney+, on Sept. 4. The company plans to release it in theaters in areas where Disney+ is not available. Originally set for a March 27 release, Mulan moved to late July, then late August and was then pulled from the calendar all together as COVID-19 cases spiked through the U.S. But few expected Mulan, a $200 million production, to go this route, even Disney.
Walmart transforming 160 parking lots into drive-in movie theaters
Imagine enjoying your popcorn while watching a movie on the big screen... in a Walmart parking lot. Yes, that’s the plan beginning this August the company said. Walmart is transforming 160 of its store parking lots into contact-free drive-in movie theaters where people can safely gather to watch movies. Walmart is partnering with Tribeca Drive-in to make this happen, according to WSLS. The company plans to make more information available at walmartdrive-in.com as the date approaches.

Walt Disney Studios has released the trailer for the film version of the hit Broadway musical Hamilton.Tickets for the Broadway production were incredibly hard to get, but fans will soon be able to enjoy the movie version from the comfort of their own homes. It's set to premiere on Disney+ on July 3. It shows a montage of scenes set to a mash-up of the show's opening number, "Alexander Hamilton," and "Satisfied." Miranda posted the film trailer on Twitter along with the caption, "May you always be satisfied." The studio opted to release the film early on its subscription streaming service amid the coronavirus pandemic.

HBO Max pulls Gone with the Wind until it can return with historical context
HBO Max has pulled "Gone with the Wind" as mass protests against racial injustice sweep the country. A spokesperson for the streaming service says the movie is a product of its time and depicts racial prejudices commonplace in American society. "Gone with the Wind" is a love story set during the American Civil War. The 1939 film is considered a cinematic classic, but it's also criticized for its portrayal of slavery and African Americans. HBO Max says when it does return, there will be a discussion of the movies historical context and a denouncement of those racial depictions.

As protests rage across the U.S. over the death of George Floyd, Warner Brothers says it wants to help the nation understand where the anger is coming from. The companys 2019 movie, Just Mercy, can be streamed for free on various digital platforms through the end of the month. In a statement, Warner Brothers says it wants to help people learn more about the systematic racism that plagues our society. The company also says the movie can help viewers understand how past injustices led the nation to where it is today. Warner Brothers, like CNN, is a division of Warner Media.

Disney releasing ‘Onward’ movie early for download, streaming
Movie theaters around the U.S. have shut down due to the spread of the coronavirus, and recently released movies did not get a lot of airtime prior to the closures. In earlier speeches, Pitt joked about DiCaprio and director Quentin Tarantino, and via Robbie zinged Brexit and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's departure from their royal roles in Britain. Pitt's ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, won a supporting-actress Oscar in 1999 — years before she and Pitt got together. Pitt was the only man in the category who had never won an acting Oscar.
