ORLANDO, Fla. – A woman is speaking out for the first time after a shooting inside a parking garage at the Orange County courthouse, testifying that her estranged husband had been stalking her and attempted to kill her.
Kenneth Logan, 26, appeared in court Tuesday as prosecutors sought to keep him behind bars.
The alleged victim, whom News 6 is not identifying, testified that Logan showed up to her home the night before the shooting — armed with a gun.
The following day, she went to the courthouse to file an injunction. It was there, prosecutors say, that Logan allegedly hid in the backseat of her car in the parking garage.
“He tried to kill me in a courthouse; he doesn’t care. He doesn’t care. I’m scared for my safety, for my kid’s safety. He’s not going to stop,” she told the court.
“He’s not going to stop. He doesn’t have a job; there’s nowhere to track him. You give him a monitor, he’s going to cut it off.”
The lead detective told the judge the victim filed the injunction that day. Surveillance video, according to investigators, shows Logan chasing the victim after allegedly shooting at her. She said he caught up with her and hit her with a handgun and pinned her down. She told investigators she escaped while Logan reloaded his weapon. She was not hit by gunfire.
Investigators noted there is no video of the altercation inside the car or of Logan holding her down.
In its argument, the defense referenced a social media video that allegedly shows the victim with a gun, arguing Logan told investigators he feared she was going to stab him that day in the parking lot.
A gun was recovered from the victim’s car. However, investigators say it was a different caliber than the shell casings and unspent rounds found in the parking garage.
Logan’s mother and father were present in the courtroom. His parents say the two were in a troubled relationship and that Logan was trying to end it.
When asked about the victim’s testimony, Logan’s father, Kenneth Logan Sr., had a blunt response.
“Baloney,” he said.
His mother, Yvette Stamps, echoed similar skepticism.
“I’m aware something transpired, but I’m really not going for what she’s saying,” Stamps said.
Logan is facing several charges, including attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated stalking.
The judge will review evidence presented in court, as well as interviews with the victim, Logan and witnesses, before deciding whether Logan will remain jailed as the case moves forward.
