Dad shot, killed in dispute with son, Orange County deputies say

Shooting involving 34-year-old dad, 15-year-old son investigated

AVALON PARK, Fla. – A 34-year-old father has been shot and killed in a domestic dispute with his son, according to Orange County deputies.

The shooting occurred at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on Sun Dew Drive in Avalon Park.

Deputies said Christopher Albano came home intoxicated and hit his wife. The woman told 911 dispatchers that her husband had come home drunk and hit her, and then her son shot him.

Four people were at the home at the time of the shooting, including Albano and the son, deputies said.

The teen was taken into custody but no charges have been filed.

Deputies say this is not the first time Jinette Albano was protected by her children. Local 6 got a report from the Sheriff's office that says they were called out to the house in February of 2012.

Christopher Albano and his wife were arguing when he shoved her to the ground. That's when one of the two boys inside the home grabbed a shotgun and pointed it at their father, but never fired.

Orange County court documents show that Albano was charged with felony battery for the incident, but the charge was dropped in October 2012.

Deputies aren't releasing which male sibling pointed the gun in 2012 because its a domestic dispute.

Local 6 has also learned the Albanos were having financial problems and their home was in foreclosure. Bank of America was trying to foreclose on the home they bought in 2008 with foreclosure proceedings starting in August 2012.

"My daughter says she heard them coming in the morning talking and that it was kind of loud and then it all got quiet," said neighbor Kay Hamilton.

Katie Hamliton, a senior at Timber Creek High School, said the teen involved in the shooting was a loner who kept to himself.

"He doesn't get into fights he doesn't get caught up in violence as far as I know," she said.
