'Frozen' to Epcot plans heating up

Disney files permit revealing new attraction

ORLANDO, Fla. – Disney's plans for "Frozen" at Epcot are heating up.

Disney recently filed a permit with the South Florida Water Management District revealing a new attraction planned next to the Norway pavilion.

Last fall, the classic Maelstrom ride in Norway closed to make way for a ride based on the movie "Frozen."  At the time, Disney also said a "meet and greet" attraction with the royal sisters, Princess Anna and Queen Elsa, would be opening, along with the new ride.

The new permit  shows Disney plans to go next door in a 13,000-square-foot building to help meet demand.  Lines for the "Frozen" sisters routinely topped three hours at the Norway pavilion even before the movie was released in late 2013.

Guests are still waiting up to several hours to meet Anna and Elsa each day in the Magic Kingdom.

The new Norway ride is expected to open late this year or in early 2016.
