COCOA, Fla. – Cocoa Police Department, along with department employees and Disney staff members, treated 30 children to a day trip to Disney on Wednesday.
The children, many being Disney first-timers, were paired with a police officer and Disney chaperones, and will spend the day at the park for free.

The trip was part of the Cocoa Police Department’s Cops and Kids summer program, funded through the Cocoa Community First nonprofit charity.
Other community partners contributed to making the trip possible, including Walt Disney Company, who provided free entry into the park, and Christ Central Church, who provided transportation by loaning their bus for the day. The Cocoa Community First nonprofit is also providing meals for the children.
“We are very excited and so are the children,” said Officer Chris Hattaway. “We are so excited to be able to be part of creating some really great memories with these kids. It is such a privilege to be able to do this with them.”

Cops and Kids go to DisneyCOPS AND KIDS GO TO DISNEY (Cocoa, FL)—Thirty children paired with police officers, department employees and Disney staff hit the highway early Wednesday for a daylong trip to Walt Disney World. The trip was sponsored in part by the Walt Disney Company which provided free entry to the park for the children. It is funded in part through the Cocoa Community First non-profit charity. Christ Central Church provided transportation by loaning out its bus for the day. Many, if not all of the children have never been to the Disney theme park and would likely never have had the opportunity to do so without the help of Cocoa’s community partners. The children will spend the day in the park grouped with a police officer and several Disney chaperones. It is such a privilege to be able to do this with them.” Serving as police chaperones are Corporal Wil Stephenson who will be putting his commercial driver’s license to use by driving the bus. Community Resource Officer Chris Hattaway, Officer and Traffic Homicide Investigator Amanda Torello, Lieutenant Mark Oenbrink and Crime Analyst Delaity Henson will also serve as chaperones for the day.
