Substitute teacher accused of having sex with student

Crenshaw School employee faces charges

GOTHA, Fla. – A substitute teacher and full-time employee at The Crenshaw School in Gotha has been arrested after police say she got a male student drunk and had sex with him at her apartment, according to the Orlando Police Department.

The encounter between 28-year-old Alicia Bromfield and the student began on Oct. 14, when the two started exchanging Snapchat messages in which they would remove articles of clothing, an arrest affidavit says.

Police said the 16-year-old student agreed when Bromfield asked if she could pick him up from his house and take him to her apartment around 8:30 p.m.

Bromfield is accused of giving the teen vodka until he said he was feeling drunk. She suggested they watch a movie in her bedroom, the affidavit says.

Police said they then had sex. The student slept over at Bromfield's apartment and she drove him home around 5 a.m. the next day, according to the arrest affidavit.

Teachers at the school became suspicious of Bromfield's relationship with the student and discovered that they had sex, police said.

Administrators at The Crenshaw School contacted the Department of Children and Families and Bromfield was arrested Friday and charged with unlawful sex with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
