Woman arrested, charged with stealing power tools

News 6 story helps nab suspect in Ocoee theft case

OCOEE, Fla. – A woman accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of power tools from a man's garage was arrested Thursday.

Chris Wilson showed News 6 surveillance video last week that appeared to show the woman taking the tools he said he bought to clean up after Hurricane Matthew.

Wilson said it didn't take long after the story aired for people to contact him with the woman's name.

"She got famous for a good week or so," Wilson said.

Wilson said Patricia MacFadden, 44, of Orlando, was the woman seen in his video. She was arrested Thursday and booked in the Orange County Jail, where she quickly posted $2,000 bond.

News 6 checked and found out MacFadden has a criminal history in Orange County dating back 17 years. Most of her arrests were drug-related, according to court records.

Wilson said he got his tools returned by MacFadden's parents last week.

"They apologized multiple times, and I actually left feeling bad for them," he said. "I was glad I got my stuff back, but you could tell they were not happy about it."

Wilson thanked News 6 and the people of Ocoee for helping to not only identify the suspected thief, but also to put her in jail.

"You got results," he said. "I'm very thankful that you were here, and you were able to get the word out."

MacFadden faces burglary and grand theft charges. If she's convicted, she could spend time in prison.
