Police: Man arrested for trying to punch, stab man over $1 in front of Goodwill

Police arrested a man in Palm Bay for trying to punch and stab another man when he refused to give him a $1.

David Lee Hoppes approached a man outside the Goodwill store on Malabar Road and asked him for $1.

When the victim declined to give him the money, Hoppes became hostile and swung, police said.

The victim was not struck by the punch. However, Hoppes removed a pocket knife from his pocket and pointed the knife at the victim, still demanding the money, police said .

Hoppes then fled to a near by Texas Roadhouse and was arrested on attempted armed robbery and aggravated assault.
