Orange County may still allow controversial Lake Pickett development

No vote planned to rescind approval of neighborhood

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County commissioners say they won't take another vote on a hotly debated housing development near Lake Pickett.

On Aug. 11, an administrative law judge labeled the project known as "The Grow" as inconsistent with the county's regulations.

Critics of the proposed development argue that the homes would ruin the rural feel of east Orange County.

Commissioner Emily Bonilla on Tuesday called on commissioners to discuss rescinding the board's approval of the project. However, county leaders say they will let Gov. Rick Scott and his Cabinet make the final decision.
