Body found in water at Ray Wayside Park in Silver Springs

Dive team searches for evidence

SILVER SPRINGS, Fla. – Human remains found in the water Sunday at Ray Wayside Park (Ocala Boat Basin) in Silver Springs has prompted officials to launch a death investigation and close the park.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office said several citizens at the park, located at 9564 NE 28th Lane, flagged down an off-duty detective about the discovery. The detective then secured the scene and notified authorities.

The remains have not been identified, deputies said.

The Sheriff's Office dive team will search for additional evidence on Monday. Marion County officials have closed Ray Wayside Park until further notice due to the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP.
