Woman stabs boyfriend to death with letter opener, deputies say

Incident happened at Goodrich Seafood restaurant

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – A woman used a letter opener to stab her boyfriend to death at a seafood restaurant in Oak Hill Friday morning, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The stabbing happened at Goodrich Seafood on River Drive around 7:30 a.m.

According to deputies, video showed Angela K. Compton, 37, and her boyfriend, Neal Goodrich Jr., 50, arrive at the restaurant in separate vehicles and walk to a boat, where they started fighting.

Compton stabbed her boyfriend multiple times a few seconds into the fight, a news release said.

Deputies said witnesses helped them determine that Compton threw the letter opener into the water after the fight was over.

A friend took Goodrich Jr. to a nearby fire station for help. He was transported to a hospital where he later died, deputies said.

Compton was taken into custody to be interviewed shortly after the incident.

Deputies announced Friday evening that she had been arrested on a second-degree murder charge.
