The FHP investigates a double fatal shooting on I-75.

TAMPA, Fla. – Authorities are searching for a pair of witnesses after two men were found dead in a car near a ramp to Interstate 75 in Tampa early Thursday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the men, ages 25 and 26, were fatally shot inside the vehicle. In an email, the agency said that early reports indicate a third person fled, but troopers and Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies weren’t able to find him.

Witnesses told investigators that someone in a white Jeep Cherokee shot at the car.

In a later update, troopers said in addition to the two victims found dead inside the vehicle, authorities believe there were two other men who fled from the vehicle following the shooting.

Troopers said Craig Wilson Lee, 25, and Terrance McDowell, 25, both of Sarasota, are considered witnesses to the shooting and should contact the FHP by calling 813-558-1800 or *FHP (*347).

The names of the victims have not been released.

No additional details were immediately available.
