Woman stabbed dog to death after fight with husband, Brevard sheriff says

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was arrested after she stabbed a dog nine times following a fight with her husband, according to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.

Sherry White, 51, was arrested Wednesday at her home on Vivian Drive in Cocoa.

The sheriff said White and her husband got into an argument earlier in the day. When her husband went to sleep, White used a knife to stab their dog, Jake, at least nine times, records show.

When questioned about why she attacked the dog, White told investigators she did it because she had to but added that she was sorry, according to the arrest affidavit.

After the stabbing, the sheriff said White woke her husband to tell him what she had done. The man tried to help Jake, but the animal ultimately died, records show.

White faces a charge of animal cruelty.
