Brevard deputies arrest 14, seek 6 in drugs operation

‘Operation Blockbuster’ warrants served Wednesday

Operation Blockbuster (Brevard County Sheriff's Office)

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Fourteen people face drugs charges this week after allegedly selling illegal narcotics to undercover investigators in Brevard County.

The sheriff’s office sought 20 people for “Operation Blockbuster,” which so far culminated Wednesday evening as deputies announced the arrest of eight people and the re-arrests of six others who were already in custody, all via warrants for the possession and sale of narcotics. Investigators are otherwise looking for six more people with active warrants for the same charges, according to a sheriff’s office statement.

The statement describes how investigators went undercover to successfully buy MDMA, methamphetamine and cocaine from 20 people “from the north end of the county to the south,” later getting arrest warrants signed for each of them by a Volusia County judge.

Wednesday’s arrests were handled by the sheriff’s office’s H.I.T. team, aka “high-intensity target,” which performed the operation due to “an influx of street-level drug dealers” in Brevard, the statement reads.
