VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Two people were seriously injured in a crash that is causing traffic delays in DeLeon Springs on Monday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash happened near the intersection of State Road 11 and Tomoka Woods Parkway.
According to an initial crash report, a GMC Envoy was traveling southbound on State Road 11, approaching Tomoka Woods Parkway at the same time a Ford F-250 was traveling northbound on the same road.
Troopers said the driver of the Envoy “failed to maintain the southbound lane while negotiating a curve” and entered the northbound lane in the direct path of the F-250. As a result, the front of the Envoy struck the front of the F-250, according to the FHP.
The driver of the Envoy – a 58-year-old woman from DeLand – and the driver of the F-250 – a 43-year-old man from Orange City – were taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, troopers said.
There is currently roadblock for both lanes of travel of State Road 11, according to the FHP
The crash remains under investigation.
