2 Florida deputies seriously hurt in ambush attack, sheriff’s office says

FLORIDA – Two Hillsborough County deputies are in the hospital with serious injuries after investigators say a man hit them with his car on purpose.

Surveillance video captured the moment of impact.

Investigators say the deputies were originally called to 28-year-old Ralph Bouzy’s home by his mother who said her son was acting irrational and needed help.

Detectives say shortly after they arrived, Bouzy left, then circled the neighborhood and sped right into the deputies.

“These deputies never had a chance. They didn’t have a chance to get out of the way,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said at a news conference.

“They didn’t have a chance to do anything. He’s accelerating at such a high rate of speed and he strikes both of them.”

Bouzy was arrested and now faces attempted murder charges.

As for the deputies who were hurt, the sheriff says one of them suffered a crushed bone and may need his leg amputated.

Search continues for man who stabbed customer inside Publix store

Police in Polk County are searching for a killer who stabbed a man to death in a Publix store.

Winter Haven police shared security images showing a group of men following the victim inside Thursday afternoon.

Police say a fight broke out at a counter and that’s when one man stabbed the victim and the group took off.

The victim was dropped off at the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to arrests.

Tow company accused of ‘preying’ on residents after cars towed from driveways

A towing nightmare in a neighborhood outside Jacksonville.

According to an investigation by News 6 sister station News4Jax, people living in a gated townhome community south of the city say their homeowners association (HOA) is giving a tow truck company unlimited access to tow their cars right out of their driveways.

“It was about two in the morning, they came outside and the car was gone,” Filipa Cardosa told News4Jax.

Cardosa then had to pay $175 to get it out of the tow lot.

“According to the paperwork, a quarter of his back tire was not on the apron on the driveway,” Cardosa said.

She said she feels like ASAP tow truck drivers are “preying” on residents’ cars — something the company says is just their way of following the HOA rules.

“Many people use words they don’t understand what that word means,” said ASAP Towing owner Vince Serrano.

The HOA board told News4JAX says residents will receive a refund from the company if a review determines there was no parking violation.

Brownie, a large, brown, short-haired stray dog, lived in Daytona Beach and became known far beyond his seaside home as Brownie the Town Dog.

He showed up to the Daytona Cab Company sometime in 1939 and the owner took a shine to the friendly dog, building him a dog house out front.

Brownie quickly became known up and down Beach Street and across the country with merchants and tourists all donating money to keep Brownie well cared for.

After 15 years as the official goodwill ambassador for the town, dozens attended his funeral and the mayor gave the eulogy.

Brownie’s grave is now marked with a bronze statue in Riverfront Park.
