Florida man arrested after over 100 mph street race on SR-408 in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – A Hillsborough County man was arrested on Friday following a street race in Orlando, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Tyler Simon, 23, of Riverview was arrested, and his vehicle was impounded with a 30-day hold, according to troopers.

In an arrest report, troopers said they spotted two Nissans racing along State Road 408 around 7:35 a.m.

Both vehicles were seen driving over 100 mph in a 60 mph zone, with the drivers “weaving in and out of the morning commute traffic in an extremely reckless manner,” the report reads.

A trooper gave chase and pulled one of the Nissans over near the exit to Semoran Boulevard, though the other got away, the report stated.

Investigators said Simon was already facing a charge of driving 50 mph over the speed limit from a separate case.

Simon now faces another charge of racing on the highway.
