8 new pickleball courts coming to Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Orange County Parks and Recreation is gearing up to cut the ribbon on eight new pickleball courts at Downey Park near Orlando.

The grand opening is set for Tuesday, May 28.

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings and District 4 Commissioner Maribel Gomez Cordero will attend the ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.

The courts will be open every day from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and people can play free of charge.

There are designated play times scheduled according to skill level:

  • Monday through Sunday - 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - All Skill Play
  • Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday - 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - All Skill Play
  • Monday, Wednesday - 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - Skilled Play 4.0 Plus

The county says all other times are set aside for walk-on play using a paddle queue system.

Downey Park is located at 10107 Flowers Avenue.
