Francois, whom the state attorney’s office said was in a vehicle behind Felix’s, exited his car and fired several shots at the other, striking Felix multiple times.

The release offers new details regarding the sheriff’s office’s investigation, as well as Francois’ motive.

Four days after the fatal shooting, deputies responded to a domestic violence call at the apartment where Francois lived along Cabo San Lucas Drive. Deputies found a firearm inside of the apartment next to Francois’ bed, noting the shell casings found at the scene of the shooting were a match with the firearm.

While Francois denied knowing Felix, detectives reportedly learned about an ongoing dispute between them. Francois allegedly blamed Felix for hitting him with a bat and breaking his arm, at one point adding he believed Felix shot his brother two days prior, the state attorney’s office said.

The trial lasted three days, the release states. At Francois’ sentencing on Friday, the victim’s family appeared virtually and provided impact statements, records show.
