Volusia County extends curfew during Hurricane Milton recovery

Curfew in effect Thursday, Oct. 10, through Friday, Oct. 11

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County extended its curfew to help with Hurricane Milton recovery efforts.

The initial curfew before the storm went into effect Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. and was set to last through 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10.

The latest curfew in Volusia County will take effect Thursday, Oct. 10, at 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11.

“The curfew is to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the community during Volusia County’s Hurricane Milton’s recovery efforts,” the county said.

However, this curfew does not apply to the following groups:

  • Regular members of law enforcement bodies
  • Regular employees of businesses, industries, or government entities while traveling for their job
  • All emergency workers

Any person who knowingly violates this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of up to $500 and/or imprisonment in the county jail for up to 60 days.

Pictures obtained from Edgewater Mayor Diezel DePew show extensive street flooding in the Florida Shores neighborhood.

Neighbors here have been dealing with flooding for weeks, and the city council eventually fired the city manager over it, saying the city was not properly maintaining drainage areas.
