Holly Hill man attempted to shoplift before fleeing on back of UPS truck, deputies say

PALM COAST, Fla. – A 31-year-old man from Holly Hill tried to steal nearly $1,500 in merchandise from a department store in Palm Coast before fleeing on the back of a UPS truck, according to deputies.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a Lowe’s after Michael Daversa had allegedly tried to steal merchandise worth over a thousand dollars and left before authorities arrived.

Deputies received a call from a concerned citizen shortly after, who saw Daversa riding on the back of a UPS truck on Palm Coast Parkway, officials said. Daversa eventually got off near Lupi Court when the driver stopped the truck and told him to get off.

Authorities said they tracked Daversa’s movements and later arrested Daversa before transporting him to the Flagler County jail.

Daversa faces a grand theft charge and is being held on $15,000 bond.
