PALM COAST, Fla. – The push to remove the mayor of Palm Coast now falls to the governor.

Palm Coast Mayor Mike Norris was the only dissenting vote in the city council’s 4-1 decision on Tuesday to send a letter to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis accusing the mayor of misleading the public, ignoring legal advice and costing the city thousands of taxpayer dollars.

In a second censure, city leaders branded Norris’ alleged behavior as “toxic” and a “clear and present danger” to the community and staff, formally asking DeSantis to unseat him.

The move comes after weeks of internal turmoil. With Norris having recently sued the city over a council appointment and losing, council members now want him to personally repay the $30,000 in legal fees and step aside.

If the governor takes no action, Norris could remain in office until 2028.
