MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A man was shot and killed in Marion County on Saturday evening, according to a news release.
Deputies said they responded to the 13800 block of NE 54th Place in Silver Springs in reference to a shooting around 6:40 p.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marion County Fire Rescue, according to the release.
The release was updated around noon Saturday to identify the man as Stephen John Jones, 56.
“Major Crimes detectives are continuing with their interviews and investigations into this incident. We will continue to update as more information becomes available,” the post states.
