PALM BAY, Fla. – The playground at Fred Poppe Regional Park in Palm Bay will soon be temporarily closed for repairs, according to the city.
In a news release, the city said the playground will be closed beginning on Monday, Sept. 15, and will stay that way for around two weeks to complete “warranty repairs,” depending on weather conditions.
“The work will address discoloration issues with the playground’s rubber surfacing,” the release states. “(...) During this period, the park grounds, PAL restroom, and pavilion will remain open to the public. However, families should be aware that the playground will not be accessible.”

Guests who have reserved the PAL pavilion specifically to use the playground during the two-week period are encouraged to contact city staff at 321-952-3231 to discuss their options, according to the release.
For further questions, guests are asked to contact Palm Bay Parks & Facilities at 321-726-2777.
We were back out at the park in April, where we heard from a parent who questioned why there wasn’t a fence separating the playground from a pond just steps away.
“My thing is, you can keep your eye on your kid as much as you want, but you’re not always gonna to be able to see them 24/7, you know, where they’re at,” Autumn Jones told News 6’s James Sparvero. “I would love to not have to take any risks of my child or any other children getting hurt.”
