ORLANDO, Fla. – Who doesn’t love a good scare?

It’s the fall season again, which also means it’s time for haunted houses, thrilling trails and other Halloween events.

We all know about the major Halloween events at the theme parks, but the real fun is at the local attractions.

Brevard County

Foggy Bluff Haunt in Melbourne - opens on Oct. 17

This year, the holiday haunts are invading. Krampus claws, haunted hearts and “ghostly celebrations” are being brought to life in “horrifying detail.”

“From cursed candy canes to haunted mistletoe, no holiday is safe,” event organizers described.

The fun will run Oct. 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 and Nov. 1. Click here for more info and to purchase tickets.

Halloween Pub Crawl in Cocoa Beach - on Oct. 18

Kicking off spooky season with a pub crawl in downtown Cocoa Beach. This event benefits homeless veterans in the area. Click here for more information.

Boo at the Zoo at Brevard Zoo - weekends in October

Trick-or-treat at treat stations, enjoy Halloween-themed decorations, take advantage of photo opportunities, listen to “spooktacular” music, watch special performances, participate in activities, visit your favorite zoo animals and more. Click here to learn more.

Haunted Trail at Rotary Park - opens Oct. 17

Get ready for a frightful night filled with thrills and chills! Explore multiple scare zones packed with eerie creatures, jump scares, and bone-chilling surprises around every corner. There will also be a Friday night movie under the pavilion.

The event runs on Oct. 17, 18, 24 and 25.

Lake County

Dr. Grimley’s Haunted Trail in Umatilla - opens Oct. 3

This year, three “horrifying” trails will takeover: Squeakles’ Game, Sins of the Sacred and The Carvehouse.

Squeakles’ Game will offer freakish twists of carnival grounds while Sins of the Sacred turns an old monastery into a “possessed sanctuary of torment.” Event organizers promise The Carvehouse is “unlike anything you’ve faced before.”

In addition to the haunted trails, there will be a horror show and a creepy cornhole course.

Spooky Park’s Haunted Trail in Lady Lake - on Oct. 18

Lady Lake’s Spooky Park Haunted Trail is here to deliver a night of frightful fun. Wander through twisting paths filled with ghosts, zombies, vampires and surprises lurking around every corner.

Considered a high-intensity haunt, the event promises immersive terror and much more.

Orange County

Halloween Flix at the Garden - on Oct. 25, Nov. 1

This spooky movie series in Winter Garden will feature two family-friendly Halloween movies and one adult horror movie: “Hocus Pocus,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”

“The ambiance of the historic Garden Theatre is the perfect setting to watch classic Halloween movies,” event organizers said.

Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics in Orlando - on Oct. 23, Oct. 30

This hourlong, candlelight concert will feature spooky tunes and other hits inspired by Halloween at The Azalea Lodge at Mead Gardens.

Mortem Manor in Kissimmee - all year long

While this haunted house is open year-round, spooky season is the perfect time to experience Mortem Manor. The haunted house features “two floors of an old Victorian-themed haunted attraction filled with scares, thrills and fun. Featuring live actors, animatronics and state-of-the-art special effects,” according to its website.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate, but you can buy tickets online.

Seminole County

A Petrified Forest in Altamonte Springs - opens Oct. 3

Three new trails will send guests on a journey through this year’s theme, “The Landlord!”

“Coming from a realm somewhere between the living and the afterlife, preying on the weakened and downtrodden, taking their souls as his payment has given him the epithet of ‘the Landlord!’”

New this year: an escape ride and an immersive theater experience. The escape ride will take guests deep in the forest where survivors will fight to stay hidden from The Landlord.

“Will you keep your soul, or will it be left in the dust?”

The immersive theater experience will blend mystery, comedy and horror.

Face the Fear in Winter Springs - Oct. 24-26

This year’s theme explores the “origin” of “Alligator Alcatraz” with “Gator Guardhouse,” an immersive outdoor fear attraction that will take you through an abandoned prison.

“Locked away deep in the swamps of Central Florida, the worst of the worst were sent to the Gator Guardhouse. They were locked away, out of sight, out of mind, and if they escaped they had to survive the gator infested swampland surrounding the prison,” the event’s website reads.

This event is exclusive for three nights at The Church @ 434 in Winter Springs. Click here for ticket information and to learn more. Tickets will be only available onsite and on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sumter County

Hometown Halloween in The Villages - Oct. 23-26

The weekend will feature live music, carnival games, trunk n’ treat and haunted houses.

For three weekends this season, you can experience “Zozo’s Urban Legends” in Lake Helen.

Sorosis Club of Orange City’s Annual Haunted House - Oct. 17-31

This year’s theme in Orange City is “Apocalypse: Final Days.”

“It’s a heart-pounding plunge into a world undone, a city in chaos where twisted shadows hide terrors that will rattle your soul... something watches from the gloom, eager to greet you,” event organizers described the haunting house.
