‘He’s a big boy:’ Massive iguana arrested in Daytona Beach, video shows

Lizard faces charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A large iguana was thrown in the back of a patrol car in a strange encounter with Daytona Beach officers, according to the police department.

The department released body-worn camera footage showing the incident, which happened on Monday morning.

“Our officers responded quickly to help safely capture an unexpected visitor, an iguana found roaming around Daytona Beach,” a release from the department reads.

In the video, one of the responding officers can be seen hesitantly approaching the iguana as the other encourages her.

However, the iguana is shown scrambling away before she can get her hands on it.

Unfortunately for the lizard, it became wedged in a nearby fence, giving the officers the opportunity to capture the iguana and place it in the back of a patrol car.

“He’s gonna be in the front seat shortly,” one of the officers can be heard saying after putting the iguana inside.

Police wrote that the iguana faces charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, trespassing and fleeing.
