Raw sewage from a septic leak causes cave-ins at Brevard mobile home park

Problem has been going on for a year

MIMS, Fla. – It’s a stinky situation that neighbors say has been going on for a year at a mobile home park off of US-1.

People living on Correll Circle said the health department has now blocked off seven areas due to septic leaks and cave-ins.

Some told Mims Community Correspondent James Sparvero they can’t use their yards anymore.

“It’s just caving in, and we keep putting stuff around it and on top so that somebody walking through that doesn’t know about it, doesn’t fall into raw sewage,” Pati Rypka said.

Rypka told Sparvero she’s afraid of the health risks.

Sparvero called the company neighbors told him is in charge of the park, but he didn’t hear back on Friday.

Meanwhile, the mess remains.

“I don’t think to ask to clean this up is asking for much,” Rypka said. “I mean, who wants to sit outside and smell raw sewage? You can’t.”

This is a developing story.
