Teen arrested after young girl shot to death in Orange County on Christmas Day

15-year-old boy now faces manslaughter charge

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 13-year-old girl was fatally shot in Orange County on Thursday afternoon, leading to the arrest of a teen suspect, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release, deputies said that the shooting was reported around 4:45 p.m. at a home in the 2200 block of Okada Court.

At the time, the 13-year-old — identified as Emony Nicole Jackson — was found with a gunshot wound, and she was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries, deputies added.

“A 15-year-old approached deputies on scene and said he was responsible for the shooting, and that it was accidental,” the release reads. “That 15-year-old was arrested on a charge of manslaughter.”
