Police ID woman struck, killed in crash outside Cocoa Village Playhouse

Lexis Julia Jordan pronounced dead after crash

COCOA, Fla. – Cocoa police on Monday identified a 25-year-old woman who was struck and killed by a pickup truck outside Cocoa Village Playhouse.

Lexis Julia Jordan was one of two pedestrians who were hit on Friday by a 2016 white Dodge Ram 1500 when the 64-year-old driver experienced a possible medical episode, according to police.

Officers responded around 1 p.m. outside of Cocoa Village Playhouse, where they found Jordan unresponsive on the ground. Police said bystanders were administering CPR until she was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The pickup truck driver was also taken to the hospital.

The other pedestrian, a man accompanying Jordan, refused medical treatment.

Witnesses told police the truck clipped the sidewalk and hit the two pedestrians before crashing into the Cocoa Village Playhouse building.

Managing director Benjamin Cox told News 6 that he and the CEO of the historic Cocoa Village Playhouse were inside when the truck plowed into the wall. He said he was thankful it was just them inside, and that the building was closed.

“I think I can speak on behalf of everyone here at the Playhouse; our hearts go out to the victim and everyone involved in this accident,” Cox said.
