Over 100 roaches, hundreds of droppings discovered at Orlando Chinese restaurant

ORLANDO, Fla. – Last week, eight more eateries across Central Florida were forced to close after a visit from a health inspector, according to state records.

These records show that the reported eateries experienced violations like rodent droppings, roaches, lack of potable water, and storage issues.

However, several of these restaurants were allowed to reopen within a day or two after meeting inspection standards.

The full list of Central Florida restaurants required to close last week is as follows:


CASSELBERRY

  • City Buffet — 100 Live Oaks Blvd.
    • Closed on March 17
      • Over 200 rodent droppings found on premises
      • Raw shrimp kept over ready-to-eat sauces in walk-in cooler
      • Raw salmon stored over wontons in walk-in freezer
      • Raw chicken stored over raw beef in walk-in freezer
      • No time mark on sushi rice
      • Medicine stored above make line
      • Employee didn’t wash hands before cutting vegetables
      • Nonfood-grade bags used in direct contact with food
      • Raid mouse bait stored on shelf above food
      • Dishmachine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength
    • Follow-up inspection required as of March 18

CLEARWATER

  • Bar-B-Q Queen (Food Truck) — 1267 N. Highland Ave.
    • Closed on March 20
      • Two small flying insects found in kitchen
      • Employee began working without first washing hands
      • Establishment operating with no potable running water in the food truck
      • Faucet at three-compartment sink does not reach all compartments
    • Follow-up inspection required as of March 20
  • Media Luna Mexican — 1617 N. Highland Ave.
    • Closed on March 17
      • Over a dozen dead roaches found on premises
      • Ten live roaches found on premises
      • Raw chicken stored with raw beef in freezer
      • Operating with an expired license
    • Follow-up inspection required as of March 20

ORLANDO

  • China Lee — 2338 S. Kirkman Road
    • Closed on March 16
      • Nearly 20 dead roaches found on premises
      • Over 100 live roaches found on premises
      • Accumulation of roach droppings in several areas of the restaurant
      • Live rodent found at front counter crawling into hole where Wi-Fi tower was located
      • Roughly 400 rodent droppings found on premises
      • Raw chicken stored over egg rolls in walk-in cooler
      • Stop sale issued due to food not being in a wholesome, sound condition
      • Spray bottles of cleaner stored above hot sauce packets
      • Employees failed to wash hands between multiple talks
      • Employee washed hands for less than 10 seconds after washing dishes
      • Employee caught washing hands with no soap after washing dishes
      • Cooked pork stored in nonfood-grade retail bags
    • Follow-up inspection required as of March 18
  • Pho 2 To — 1206 E. Colonial Drive
    • Closed on March 18
      • A dozen rodent droppings found behind reach-in cooler
      • Time/temperature violations for sprouts, pork, beef, beef tenderloin, and veggie loaf
      • Several raw meats left out of original packaging over ready-to-eat items in freezer
      • Dishmachine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength
    • Met inspection standards on March 19
  • Tacos Don Andres Metrowest — 2433 S. Hiawassee Road
    • Closed on March 18
      • Rear door next to dishwashing area not fully sealed, with small flying insects present
      • Over 40 small flying insects found on premises
      • Stop sale issued over raw salmon being thawed in ROP package
      • Dishmachine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength
    • Follow-up inspection required as of March 18

SANFORD

  • Church’s Chicken — 2561 French Ave.
    • Closed on March 18
      • No bathrooms available for public or employee use
      • When flushed, sewage seeped from base of toilet to floor drain, which was backed up and not draining. Sewage collected on floor and trapped beneath restroom floor tiles
    • Met inspection standards on March 19

WEST MELBOURNE

  • Hangry Joe’s Melbourne — 1630 S. Wickham Road
    • Closed on March 17
      • Around seven garbage bags open in the back of the restaurant instead of in the dumpster (operator said city didn’t come on Sunday as scheduled)
      • Dumpster lids left open with maggots in the trash
      • Around 26 rodent droppings found on premises
      • Open box of ketchup packets destroyed and eaten, indicating rodent activity
    • Met inspection standards on March 18
