TAMPA, Fla. – The Association for Cleaning and Facility Solutions (ISSA) just released its list of winners for the second annual Spotless Spaces Competition.
As the name suggests, the contest highlights areas “that go above and beyond to create safe, healthy and accessible environments.”

In a release, ISSA officials said that the competition recognized excellence in the following three categories:
- Tork Think Ahead Facility Excellence Winner — American Museum of Natural History (New York City, NY)
- International Spotless Space of the Year Winner — Quito Metro Stations (Quito, Ecuador)
- U.S. Spotless Space of the Year Winner — Tampa Bay International Airport (Tampa, FL)
An ISSA representative told News 6 that the Tampa airport received its recognition thanks to its exceptionally clean, healthy environments for both travelers and airport workers.
“For a region that continues to see strong tourism growth and record passenger traffic, this recognition underscores Tampa International’s role not just as a gateway — but as a leader in redefining what safe, well-maintained public infrastructure looks like in a post-pandemic world.
This is more than an aviation story — it’s about public health, workforce safety, and the evolving expectations of millions of travelers passing through Tampa Bay each year."

It’s not the first time that the airport has been recognized for its cleanliness, though.
Back in 2022, the airport also won Cintas’ “America’s Best Restroom Award,” thanks in large part to its “freshly cleaned aesthetic” and “resort-like feel.”
“We are incredibly proud of the strong partnership we’ve built with Flagship and deeply appreciate the reliability, dedication, and attention to detail their employees bring to Tampa International Airport,” Tampa International Airport COO John Tiliacos said. “This ISSA award is a well-deserved recognition of their professionalism and the meaningful impact they make on the guest experience at TPA. It truly reflects the passion and high standards their employees bring to their work every single day."
