ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A mother is suing months after what started as a meal ended in disaster. Parts of the ceiling and an air-conditioning unit fell on her and her daughter. It happened at Flyers Wings and Grill last year.
Her daughter was not injured but she was sent to the hospital.
News 6 spoke with the mother for the first time. She claims the business knew about problems overhead and didn’t fix them until after she was hurt.
“I’m scared to go inside because it could fall again,” Stover said.

A spot that once brought good vibes and food for Stover is now a place of pain and disappointment.
“I had my birthday parties there. I had celebrations there. No one really came to help me off the ground when it happened,” Stover said.
She says she’s still dealing with injuries from last year.
“I had a brain injury. It’s hard to walk outside in the sunlight, Stovery said. ”Also, I had a bulging disc in my neck.”
On Wednesday, Stover and her attorneys filed a lawsuit seeking more than $50,000. The lawsuit alleges the Department of Business and Professional Regulation handed out several violations to Flyers Wings and Grill in 2023, 2024 and 2025, all related to mold and grease buildup on the ceiling in different areas of the restaurant.
Her lawyers say a previous client was also injured by a falling ceiling tile at the restaurant in August 2024, and that case was settled confidentially.
“One of our clients was hit in the head when ceiling tiles collapsed in a different part of the restaurant,” said attorney Ryan Fletcher.
News 6 went back to the restaurant looking for answers. We wanted to speak with a manager, but no one wanted to talk. We were told to email management.
News 6 emailed management asking about the allegations and what’s been done to fix the ceiling.
So far, there’s been no response.
Meanwhile, state records show the restaurant was cited again for ceiling violations during its most recent inspection in December, for mold and grease buildup on the ceiling in different areas of the restaurant.
