Murderer gets 3 life sentences for deadly Daytona Beach shooting spree

Jerome Anderson convicted on charges of first-degree murder

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Years after a man gunned down his roommate and two other victims in Daytona Beach, he will now spend the rest of his life in prison, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

In a release on Monday, SAO officials said that the man — identified as Jerome Lloyd Anderson — shot his roommate in their home along Park Drive back in July 2023.

“Witnesses reported that (Anderson) then walked out to the street and shot two more men,” the release reads. “Video surveillance shows Anderson chasing one of the victims in the roadway and firing at him, including while he was on the ground.”

Officials added that all three victims were shot several times and ultimately died.

Meanwhile, a victim had told detectives that Anderson had been arguing with the victims the night prior at a convenience store, threatening to kill them, the release shows.

Despite all this, investigators said that Anderson had claimed he was defending himself while calling 911.

Regardless, Anderson pleaded no contest to three counts of first-degree murder, and he was thus sentenced to three consecutive life sentences, SAO officials revealed.

“The defendant is a dangerous and violent offender,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said. “Removing him from our community was essential to our duty to protect you and your family.”
