ORLANDO, Fla. – A 13-year-old boy was hospitalized on Tuesday after he was struck by a car in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In a release, an FHP spokesperson said that the boy had been walking north on the sidewalk along Powers Drive.

However, a 2017 Nissan Rogue was heading north on Powers Drive around the same time, a trooper wrote.

The boy entered into the travel lane, walking right into the path of the oncoming Nissan, the release shows. As a result, he was struck and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Meanwhile, the Nissan driver was not transported and instead remained at the scene, the FHP reports.
