Two toddlers shot to death in Orange County, deputies say

Incident happened near 4400 South Rio Grande Avenue

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Two toddlers were shot to death in Orange County on Friday evening, according to the sheriff’s office.

In a release, deputies said they received a call around 6:30 p.m. about a man with a gun who was chasing a woman in the area of the 4400 block of South Rio Grande Avenue.

Deputies added that they made contact with the woman, who was uninjured. However, she said she was concerned about the safety of her children in an apartment nearby.

As deputies approached the apartment, they heard several gunshots, the release shows.

After heading inside, they found two young children — ages 1 and 2 years old — who had been shot, investigators reported. The toddlers were taken to the hospital, where they ultimately died from their injuries.

“The man, who is the children’s father, was found in an apartment, dead by what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” the release reads. “There is no further threat to the community.”
