COCOA, Fla. – Brevard County deputies are investigating after three dogs were found dead inside a trailer belonging to the boyfriend of a woman who was fatally attacked by dogs last month.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to News 6 that investigators found the dogs dead inside a trailer at the address Thursday.
According to the sheriff’s office, the trailer belongs to Jodi Cowan’s boyfriend, Donnell Smith.
Deputies say the investigation remains active and an examination of the dogs will be conducted to determine how they died.
News 6 was at the property Friday afternoon, where the odor of decomposition was still noticeable outside the trailer hours after the dogs had been removed.
The discovery comes weeks after Cowan was killed in May in a dog attack near her Cocoa home.
Investigators previously said two dogs attacked the 50-year-old woman. Authorities later arrested 29-year-old Linda Cutler and charged her with manslaughter in connection with Cowan’s death.
As for the three dogs found dead inside the trailer, deputies say the investigation is ongoing. No additional charges have been announced.
