FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – A Palm Coast man was arrested after he entered a local home uninvited and was shot by the woman who lived there, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.
In a release, deputies said the incident happened Sunday afternoon along Big Bear Lane, when the man — identified as 33-year-old Michael McDonald — arrived at the home “uninvited and unexpected.”

“McDonald lifted open the garage door then left the garage and banged on a back window before entering through the front door,” the release reads.
After getting inside, McDonald confronted the homeowner and her two children in the foyer, making threats in the process, deputies added.
Per investigators, the homeowner repeatedly ordered McDonald to leave and warned him that she would shoot. He kept advancing toward her, prompting her to fire one round and strike him in the arm.
McDonald then fled in a silver Kia SUV, deputies explained.
Deputies said they found and detained McDonald a short while later at the hospital, where he was taken for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The sheriff’s office also revealed that neither the homeowner nor her children were injured in the affair.
“Florida is a stand your ground state, and when someone invades your home and threatens you and your family, they will likely be shot,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. “I strongly support the Second Amendment, and this is proof why we have the stand your ground law. This violent re-offender has not learned his lesson. Hopefully, he will now, as his bad decision could have cost him his life.”
Investigators noted that McDonald has a criminal history that includes arrests for grand theft, possession of controlled substances, resisting, obstruction, possession with intent to sell, DUI, and robbery with a firearm.
Now, McDonald faces a charge of burglary with assault or battery, and he’s held without bond. Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing.
