MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Brevard County tax collector’s office in Melbourne is once again having air conditioning issues, and the county basically says it’s too hot to keep the office open right now.

The county says the location at 1515 Sarno Road in Melbourne has had continuing issues with the HVAC system for months that have not been fully resolved.

“Given the unprecedented high temperatures, we must prioritize the safety of our employees and customers and close this office. We understand the closure will displace our Melbourne area customers to other locations and will reopen the office when it is safe to do so,” said a notice released by the county.

There are tax collector’s offices in Viera, Palm Bay, Merritt Island and Titusville. The county says extra staff will be brought on to handle any increased volume at those locations.
