WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – A new Boys & Girls Club branch in Winter Garden is giving hundreds of children and teens more space to learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.
The 30,000-square-foot June Family Branch in Winter Garden will serve more than 300 children and teens each day.
For nearly 30 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida has served children in Winter Garden. But demand eventually outgrew the organization’s former location.
The new June Family Branch expands the club’s capacity by more than 400% and provides dedicated spaces for children and teens.
The facility includes social-emotional rooms, art rooms, technology spaces, sound studios, music rooms and dance rooms. It also offers after-school and summer programs, along with access to mentors and safe spaces.
“This is a space for them to learn how to dream and what to dream, and then help us to execute that,” said Jamie Merrill, president and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.
Many club members qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and some come from lower-income or single-parent households.
Despite those challenges, the club said its high school seniors have a 100% graduation rate.
For 12-year-old Logan Brunson, the club has helped build confidence and develop both academically and athletically.
“The Boys and Girls Club is more than just a place to go after school,” Brunson said. “It is a place where great futures are started.”
The new facility is located a 459 9th Street.
