KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a SunRail train, according to officials with the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident happened just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday near Pleasant Hill Road and Old Tampa Highway.

A person who was walking on the tracks was struck by a SunRail train, which was traveling between Kissimmee and Poinciana, according to Florida Department of Transportation officials.
FDOT officials said 26 passengers and two crew members were on board the train heading south. There were no injuries reported to passengers and crew.
Arrangements were made to transport passengers from the train by bus, FDOT officials said. Bus transport was underway for passengers between Kissimmee and Poinciana.
FDOT officials said Kissimmee was the farthest south SunRail trains could travel as of Wednesday night. Train delays were being experienced systemwide.

Trains P338 and P339 SB have been cancelled. Train P336 NB is delayed by 120 minutes and is on the move. Bus bridge continues between Kissimmee and Poinciana station due to previous police assistance near the tracks.

On Wednesday night, the scene was cleared and the track was reopened between Kissimmee and Poinciana, FDOT officials said.
The last remaining northbound and southbound trains were finishing routes, including the special southbound Orlando game night train, FDOT officials said. Regular service is expected to resume Thursday morning.
FDOT officials said the FHP is investigating.
