Meet the candidates for Florida Senate District 25 in the November election

ORLANDO, Fla. – Election day is Nov. 5 and voters will have the chance to vote for someone new for Florida Senate District 25 as Senator Victor Torres, Jr. has reached term limits.

Florida Senate District 25 consists of Osceola County and part of Orange County.

Kristen Arrington

Kristen Arrington, a Democrat, defeated Carmen Torres and Alan Grayson in the District 25 Democratic Primary in August. She is currently a member of the Florida State House representing District 46, but she is term-limited. Arrington is the wife of Osceola County Commissioner Brandon Arrington and the daughter-in-law of Elections Supervisor Mary Jane Arrington.

According to her campaign website, Arrington vows to keep Florida students safe, address the affordable housing crisis, fight to keep insurance costs down, protect Florida’s water supply and to expand healthcare.

Jose Martinez, a Republican, defeated Jon Arguello in the District 25 Republican Primary in August.

According to his campaign website, Martinez is an immigrant who built a small business in Osceola County. He supports traditional conservative values like parental rights and reducing restrictions on guns. He supports capping property tax increases for non-homestead properties and extending homestead exemptions, changing the way homeowners associations fine homeowners, and increasing pay for first responders.
