Orlando Pride earns victory over OL Reign with first-half goal

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Pride brought out a tight victory against the OL Reign during the team’s Friday night match, ending the game at 1-0.

According to the National Women’s Soccer League, Reign forward Elyse Bennett took a shot at Pride goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse within the first 30 seconds of the match.

However, Moorhouse managed to block the shot, and Pride forward Messiah Bright landed a goal nearly 16 minutes into the game. Despite additional attempts to score by the Pride, the match’s first half ended in their favor at 1-0.

Coming back out for the second half, Reign made a few close calls as the put Moorhouse to the test. However, despite a few close encounters toward the end of the game, Moorhouse was able to keep the Pride in the lead through the rest of the match.

NWSL announced that the victory kept the Pride in 8th place after having player 15 games, though the Reign are in 3rd place overall for the league.

The Pride’s next game is scheduled for July 23 at 7 p.m. against the Gotham FC.
