ORLANDO, Fla. – A trio famous for loud beats, wild visuals, and lots of paint is back in Orlando.
Blue Man Group is set to kick off live shows on May 1 at the brand-new Blue Man Theater at ICON Park, featuring state-of-the-art audio, lighting, and video technology. It’s also the first venue ever custom-built specifically for the iconic trio.
“The first day I walked in, it was like — it smells new,” said Bhurin Sead. “That feeling of opening a brand-new car, getting something new for the first time. It’s really wonderful.”
Sead is a team captain and has been a Blue Man performer since 2008.
“In my day-to-day, I think about the character a lot,” Sead said. “It taps into part of me. That empathetic part of me that’s able to listen, part of me that wants to collaborate.”
The group wrapped up its 14-year residency at Universal Orlando Resort in 2021, leaving a noticeable void in the city’s entertainment scene. Three years later, Orange County leaders broke ground on the custom-designed, 500-seat theater at ICON Park in September 2024.
The new production will blend classic Blue Man Group acts with exclusive content created specifically for the Orlando show. Sead said the central theme running through the entire performance is connection.
“We arrive as sort of separate people, but hopefully by the end, if we do our job right, everybody feels like part of something together — that’s unique for that moment. That’ll never happen again,” he said.
