Shaquill Griffin agrees to join Jaguars, AP reports
(AP Photo/Brynn Anderson)Former Pro Bowl cornerback Shaquill Griffin is returning to the Sunshine State, and he could be bringing his twin brother with him. Griffin and the Jacksonville Jaguars agreed Tuesday on a three-year contract worth up to $44.5 million that includes $29 million guaranteed, according to a person familiar with negotiations. The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because neither side can make free agent agreements official until the new league year begins Wednesday. The Seahawks arenโt expected to place a restricted free agent tender on the one-handed linebacker. If they donโt, he would become a free agent Wednesday and able to sign anywhere.
Jaguars poised to spend big, rebuild quickly in free agency
Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. It certainly should help that the Jaguars have more salary cap space (nearly $73 million) than any other team. (AP Photo/Jay LaPrete, File)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. Clemson star Trevor Lawrence is the presumptive choice, and the Jaguars will use free agency to build around him. โThatโs a room thatโs going to have to be rebuilt in some ways,โ said Meyer, who could sign Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith or Gerald Everett when free agency officially begins Wednesday.
Packers struggle to put away Jags, get by with 24-20 win
GREEN BAY, Wis. โ Green Bay coach Matt LaFleur liked the way his team finished. โWe will challenge everybody in this organization thatโs a part of this football team to bring more emotion,โ LaFleur said. CJ Henderson knocked the ball loose from Adams, and Myles Jack returned the fumble 16 yards to Green Bayโs 16. Green Bay played without usual starting cornerbacks Jaire Alexander (hand/concussion) and Kevin King (quadriceps). COACHING SHORT-HANDEDJaguars cornerbacks coach Tim Walton didnโt make the trip to Green Bay because of what the team described as personal reasons unrelated to COVID-19.

Mixon's 3 TDs pace Bengals in 33-25 win over Jaguars
Cincinnati Bengals outside linebacker Jordan Evans (50) celebrates late in the second half of an NFL football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Cincinnati, Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020. The Bengals defeated the Jaguars 33-25. After linebacker Jordan Evans intercepted a tipped Gardner Minshew pass, the Bengals started on Jacksonvilleโs 40 and got nowhere, Burrow overthrowing an open A.J. The Jags added a field goal with 8 seconds left, but the ensuing onside kick was unsuccessful. He missed a 48-yard field goal in the first quarter but converted on four others, including a 50-yarder in the second half.
Fitzpatrick handles Jaguars again, this time with Dolphins

(AP Photo/Phelan M. Ebenhack)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Different team, familiar result for Ryan Fitzpatrick against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The lopsided outcome also gave the Dolphins (1-2) their first double-digit victory in 39 games, ending the longest drought in the league. Fitzpatrick completed his first 12 passes โ a career high โ as Miami scored touchdowns on its first three drives for the first time since 2011. Fitzpatrick also ran for 39 yards and a score, his 37-year-old legs looking as fresh as any in Miamiโs backfield. The Jaguars have won two in a row against the Bengals, notching victories in 2017 and 2019.

Tank for Trevor? Jaguars say no way despite roster purge
FOURNETTE WAIVEDWhy it looks bad: Jacksonville got nothing in return for Fournette, a 1,000-yard rusher in two of his first three years who scored 19 touchdowns and rarely fumbled. NGAKOUE TO MINNESOTAWhy is looks bad: The Jaguars wanted a first-rounder in return for Ngakoue, who has 37 sacks and 14 forced fumbles in four seasons. Why it makes sense: He started showing his age down the stretch last season, partly because he played close to 80% of the defensive snaps. BOUYE TO DENVERWhy it looks bad: Team whiffed on two potential replacements: Free agent Darqueze Dennard failed a physical and Rashaan Melvin opted out because of COVID-19 concerns. Why is makes sense: Bouye wasnt at his best in 2019, finishing with one interception for the second straight season, and was due nearly $13.5 million.
Florida Gators have potential for championships in Dan Mullens 3rd year
It also could be Mullen taking over-the-top precaution as the eighth-ranked Gators get ready to begin a championship-or-bust season. We have the potential to go compete for a championship and be a championship team, said Mullen, who is 21-5 in two seasons in Gainesville. Florida won 10 games in Mullens first season and 11 in Year 2. Despite Franks' departure, the Gators still have as much depth at the position as they've had in years. This season, Wilson has All-SEC potential and fellow cornerback Kaiir Elam is considered a rising star after a breakout freshman year.
Jaguars draft former Florida Gators corner CJ Henderson
Henderson doesn't have to go very far for his pro football job. The Florida cornerback was selected ninth overall by Jacksonville. The Jaguars are seeking a solid coverage guy after trading Jalen Ramsey to the Rams last year. Henderson has good size at 6-foot-1, 204 pounds, and is very quick. He covered the top wideouts the Gators played and usually dominated when healthy -- an ankle injury limited him to nine games last season, but he still had 11 passes broken up.
